kibera slum nairobi africa keiran leonard the peryls - black waltz alex vargas - lie teatum-jones promo stills national geographic
I was recently in Nairobi for a shoot. Part of the shoot happened in Kibera one of the biggest slums of Africa. I found it utterly amazing and depressing so had to go back to meet the people and shoot there again. This is the stills from my day in Kibera, video coming soon too. My former colleagues from MTV, Paul Wilkinson and Georgia Cooke from Nuw Creative, developed the idea for this video together with Keiran, and asked me to wield the camera for them. And I also ended up doing the post production on the clip too- I think it turned out pretty well... I have just completed a music video for The Peryls' new track 'Black Waltz'. The main theme of their new album has all to do with memories, some true some false, which I thought would be interesting to use a part of the idea behind the video After doing his video for the track 'More', Alex Vargas' management approached me to do the video for his next track 'Lie'. It's a much darker track, in which we both wanted to give the song some edge and also show off Alex' amazing performance skills. Additionally I happy to report the video has now been picked up by MTV US Together with my friend Jez Lysaght I made a fashion film for the label Teatum Jones to show off their fashion line at London Fashion Week, the film was subsequently pick up by Vogue New promo stills for the musician Alex Vargas I was commissioned by National Geographic Channel to go to Amani Nature Reserve in Tanzania to do a documentary piece about the preservation work they do there and how it helps the local community at the same time.
